A1 and A2 – Getting started with iPads in the classroom

Participants take their first steps into the broad area of using iPads in school. After starting with basic everyday usage, the course proceeds to education-specific applications such as creating interactive worksheets with Pages and how to manage the students’ devices in class. The various topics will be explored in the context of how they can be applied in teachers’ everyday work.

Description

  • One of the main goals of starting out with iPads is to integrate them into the school’s existing IT infrastructure. This also includes file management and how to use already known programs and methods on the new devices, making it possible to apply their current skills successfully in the Apple platform. In this way, teachers will also learn how to counter frustrating situations that can occur when first introducing mobile devices, which also ensures that they can fully focus on using them meaningfully in the classroom.
  • On the following days, participants will focus on lesson-specific topics such as digital whiteboard applications like Freeform and how to create digital learning materials on mobile devices with the iWorks suite. This section will not only explore their various capabilities, but also how they can be effectively integrated into lessons. Furthermore, classroom management possibilities and methods will be addressed.
  • This course is geared towards those who have very little or no knowledge about iPads or are unsure about how to start using them in a school environment. With this foundation, they will then acquire the knowledge necessary for areas relevant to all subjects such as creating lesson materials or using digital whiteboard applications.
  • The A1-A2 refers to competencies described in the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu).
